Admerus Biosciences Pvt. Ltd. proposed the construction of an access road/ramp for the basement in their premises. Conventionally, 100mm thick plain cement concrete (PCC) layer would be suggested for this access road. Since this pavement was exposed to different traffic axle loads that produces stresses and strains, the probability of the pavement getting cracks was higher. Strata suggested the use of StrataBase biaxial geogrid that reinforces the pavement layer and improves the serviceability and durability of the pavement. Further with the use of StrataBase geogrid the thickness of PCC layer was also reduced.

Strata’s Innovative Solution
Strata proposed the use of StrataBase biaxial geogrid SB 3030 in the concrete pavement layer to minimize the effect of vehicular load that causes stresses and strain in the concrete pavement. The thickness of plain cement concrete was reduced to 75mm and the StrataBase biaxial geogrid was placed at a depth of 50mm from the top.
Biaxial geogrids are geosynthetic materials formed into a grid of connected tensile elements. Biaxial geogrid increases the stiffness of aggregate base layers and confines the aggregate particles under repetitive loading.
